The Spacious Super King suite in Great Fosters in Egham, Surrey is a top choice for a short weekend break from Central London for 2 adults with 2 children and a little pooch. But if you are travelling without children (nor pet), we would recommend indulging in one of the Splendid Historic Suites in the more cosy Main House overlooking the knot gardens and acres of parkland.

Great Fosters is an exclusive hotel housed in a 16th century, Grade I listed Tudor mansion that sits majestically overlooking 50 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland.

An otherwise plain modern conversion with slanted double height ceiling, this 31 m2 suite is given some character enhancement with a rugged barn entrance door, original leaded window panes, modern artwork and masculine dark oak furniture.
The lounge area was equipped with a large comfy sofa, tartan-patterned armchair and oak coffee table. All very pleasant, but for us it lacked a style punch.
The room looks out to a small rectangular Cloisters Lily garden with a lily pond in the middle.
The bedroom was furnished with a comfy medium firm Super King bed, dressed with 4 super soft pillows and a fluffy duvet enveloped in white luxurious cotton covers. Reading lights from the ceiling and bedside lamps with independent left and right controls completed the package.
Each of our children were provided with a portable single bed (at a surcharge of £40 per bed per night, maximum two beds per room), which fitted snugly at the foot of our comfy Super King bed. It was great that the beds could be folded and rolled away quite easily when not in use.
Our Westie (one off surcharge of £25 per stay) was also provided with her own plush comfy bed from Petface, which fitted her perfectly. She took to it instantly and enjoyed her little spot in the room. Click here to check it out on our Amazon associate link (Amazon.co.uk).
The bathroom was spacious with a large single sink and equally spacious tiled walk-in rain shower. L’Occitane’s shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and body lotion and the lighted vanity mirror were a nice touch. Also provided were huge bath towels, bathrobes and slippers.
The walk-in shower was handy for cleaning up our Westie’s mucky paws after a frolic in the parkland. Although there was no natural light in the bathroom, the brightness of the lights were adjustable to our liking.
There was no full-length mirror in the actual bathroom itself, but there was one just outside on the sliding cupboard doors as well as by the entrance to the bathroom.
The suite comes complete with all the modern conveniences one can expect from a luxury hotel.

Complimentary breakfast can be delivered to room and was delivered at requested time. What more can you ask for.
There aren’t many rooms in most hotels where you can fit 2 adults & 2 kids. Hence, compared to getting two adjoining rooms, this Spacious Super King suite is decent value for a luxury retreat.
